Stillpoint AEC is partnering with a highly respected MEP consulting engineering firm in the Chicago area to identify a Mechanical Engineer for a permanent, full-time opportunity. This role offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging building projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in a highly professional consulting environment.
The Mechanical Engineer will support the design and coordination of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical building systems for a diverse portfolio of commercial, healthcare, higher education, life sciences, mixed‑use, industrial, hospitality, and institutional projects. This position is ideal for engineers who enjoy technical problem solving, project ownership, client interaction, and contributing throughout every phase of project delivery.

Responsibilities- Design HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems for commercial, healthcare, higher education, laboratory, hospitality, mixed‑use, industrial, and institutional facilities
- Perform heating and cooling load calculations, ventilation analysis, equipment selection, and energy evaluations
- Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and construction documents
- Develop HVAC system layouts, ductwork and piping designs, equipment schedules, and mechanical room layouts
- Coordinate with electrical, plumbing, structural, civil, architectural, and specialty consultants throughout project delivery
- Utilize Revit and BIM workflows to support multidisciplinary coordination and project execution
- Participate in project meetings with clients, architects, contractors, and project stakeholders
- Support projects through schematic design, design development, construction documents, bidding, and construction administration
- Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and assist with field coordination activities
- Support project scheduling, budgeting, and technical coordination efforts
- Mentor junior engineers and designers as appropriate
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required
- Current experience designing HVAC and mechanical building systems within an MEP consulting engineering or AEC environment required
- Experience with commercial, healthcare, education, laboratory, industrial, mixed‑use, hospitality, or institutional projects preferred
- EIT considered or PE preferred
- Candidates actively progressing toward PE licensure are strongly encouraged to apply
- Proficiency with Revit and BIM coordination workflows preferred
- Knowledge of ASHRAE standards, IMC, IECC, and applicable building codes
- Experience preparing engineering calculations and construction documents
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects within a consulting environment
