Associate Medical Director – Medical Communications Agency

Hiring Remote (U.S.)

Our client is a strategic medical communications agency rooted in deep scientific expertise and laser-focused on oncology and hematology. With a mission to bring clarity to complex science, they partner with leading biopharma and biotech companies to deliver impactful communications across medical affairs, commercial strategy, and HCP engagement.

They’re seeking an Associate Medical Director who thrives at the intersection of science and storytelling — someone who can craft compelling content, guide strategic direction, and mentor writers, all while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and clients.

Key Responsibilities Scientific Content Leadership
  • Lead the development of scientifically robust, high-quality content across slide decks, symposia, ad boards, lexicons, training materials, and more
  • Translate complex data into clear, engaging communications for HCPs and internal stakeholders
  • Review and elevate content from writers and freelancers to ensure accuracy and consistency
Client & Thought Leader Engagement
  • Serve as a trusted scientific partner to clients and KOLs
  • Lead client meetings, providing scientific insight and strategic recommendations
  • Support advisory boards, symposia, and internal client workshops
Strategic & Scientific Oversight
  • Partner with account and creative teams to align content with brand strategy
  • Help shape messaging frameworks and scientific narratives
  • Identify new opportunities that add value for clients
  • Mentor and train junior writers
  • Work cross-functionally with client services, creative, and project management teams
  • Support resource planning and content forecasting
Qualifications
  • 3+ years’ experience in a medical communications agency (oncology/hematology preferred)
  • Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, or equivalent) in life sciences strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to deliver scientifically rigorous and commercially relevant content
  • Strong client-facing presence and communication skillsi>
  • Experience mentoring writers and collaborating across teams
  • Familiarity with both medical affairs and promotional deliverables
