About the role COUNTRY Financial is seeking Data Science and Software Developer interns. These positions will be in our Digita Lab at the University of Illinois Research Park in Champaign, IL.

As a Data Scientist you will be working with business partners and COUNTRY Technology, including Applied Analytics, to develop and test data and software development solutions for our COUNTRY Financial clients, representatives, and employees.

As a Software Developer intern, youwill be working with business partners, designers, and COUNTRY Technology to develop and test products and processes used by our COUNTRY Financial clients, reps and employees.

• Deep dive into competitive intelligence for our products
• Conduct analysis to gain quicker, streamlined understanding of our business results and trends
• Utilize machine learning methods to create data models, concepts such as regression, classification, and forecasting
• Work closely with Digita Lab Software Developer interns on delivering working solutions (Application Development, Generative AI, etc.)
• Collaborate with Digita Lab Software Developer and UI/UX interns on cross-functional teams
• Participate in Agile Release Trains

• Must be actively pursuing a college degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for the duration of the internship
• Self-motivated learner with leadership capabilities
• Strong collaboration, written and oral communication skills
• Experience gathering data and building solutions
• Understanding and knowledge of business use cases
• Understanding and knowledge of databases, data modeling, and statistical concepts
• Exceptional analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Experience working with some of the following:
  Python, R, Tableau, SQL
• Version Tools (Git, SVN)
• A working knowledge of the following is preferred:
  Cloud Platforms (Microsoft Azure) Containerization NLP Database engineering and administration Integration with software development

• Deep dive into research of new and emerging technologies (i.e. Generative AI)
• Develop software applications that are high performing and meet technical standards
• Create a variety of technical solutions by selecting the appropriate technology, leveraging defined technology standards and knowledge of multiple programming tools and techniques
• Design solutions after gathering business and technical requirements
• Support the development of test cases, execution and related problem solving during all phases of project testing in alignment with overall test plans
• Participate in testing emerging technologies in Research and Innovation projects
• Collaborate with Data Science and UI/UX Digita Lab interns on cross-functional teams
• Participate in Agile Release Trains

• Must be actively pursuing a college degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for the duration of the internship
