Duration: 6 months
Lead feasibility assessment of KONG API Gateway for API modernization
Evaluate current API and integration architecture
Define suitability of KONG (OSS or Enterprise) for enterprise use
Guide API gateway modernization strategy and decision-making
Work with client architects and technical teams to align solution approach
Provide recommendations for API management platform adoption
Present technical findings to stakeholders and leadership
Conduct detailed feasibility study of KONG for API management and gateway modernization
Analyze existing architecture including gateways, integrations, security, and deployment models
Evaluate compatibility with cloud and on-prem infrastructure, CI/CD, Dev Ops, monitoring, and logging tools
Assess functional and non-functional requirements such as performance, scalability, security, governance, and observability
Identify integration patterns for upstream services, authentication systems, and plugins
Review native and custom KONG plugins for business use cases
Estimate effort, timeline, and resource requirements for implementation or migration
Identify risks, dependencies, and technical gaps in adopting KONG
Prepare feasibility reports with architecture options and recommendations
Strong experience with KONG API Gateway (Enterprise preferred)
Expertise in API management and integration architectures
Knowledge of API security protocols (OAuth2, JWT, mTLS)
Understanding of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Dev Ops practices
Knowledge of container platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes
Familiarity with logging, monitoring, and observability tools like Prometheus and Grafana
Strong understanding of system architecture assessment and design
KONG configuration, routing, policies, and plugin management
API lifecycle management and gateway modernization experience
Cloud and hybrid architecture integration
Microservices and distributed system architecture
API security implementation and governance
Performance analysis, scalability planning, and optimization
Dev Ops and CI/CD integration for API platforms
Technical documentation and architectural reporting
