The Clerk-Translator is a valuable member of our Behavioral Health team whose primary responsibilities are Spanish interpretation for Spanish-speaking behavioral health patients and a variety of clerical duties utilizing a high degree of independent judgment, problem-solving, and initiative. Schedule
Hours:
20 hours per week Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday (8:00am - 4:00pm).
- Communicates orally and in writing in both Spanish and English languages, providing interpretive and information services for Spanish speaking patients/clients.
- Assists established and new Spanish speaking patients with communicating with Children and Adolescent Behavioral Health Providers.
- Schedules appointments for clients and provides reminder calls for Provider appointments.
- Handle telephone inquiries, making appropriate referrals to specific Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center (LCHD/CHC) programs or other agencies as appropriate.
- Translates for Spanish-speaking clients (in clinic, home or community settings).
- Types correspondence, memoranda, forms and statistical reports.
- Documents any missed appointments in the medical record and telephones or sends letters to assist patients to reschedule appointments.
- Translates written educational materials and other documents from English to Spanish.
- Maintains office and educational materials inventory.
- Assists in making appointments of clients when referred out of the LCHD/CHC.
- Serves as a receptionist when directed.
- Develops and maintains a working knowledge of individual Emergency Preparedness roles.
- Reports all unusual occurrences that may involve the safety and well-being of the clients.
- Requires a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate.
- Spanish-speaking for interpretation.
- Good knowledge of the use of a computer, office equipment, and using Microsoft Office products, such as Word and Excel.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of patient care.
