We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support truck assembly operations by developing, improving, and sustaining manufacturing processes. The engineer will work closely with design, quality, production, logistics, and supplier teams to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost while ensuring successful product launches and continuous process improvement.
Responsibilities- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for truck assembly lines, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production.
- Create and maintain work instructions, assembly process sheets, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and manufacturing documentation.
- Design and implement assembly tooling, fixtures, ergonomic improvements, and workstation layouts.
- Support new product introduction (NPI), engineering change implementation, and production readiness activities.
- Analyze assembly issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Conduct time studies, line balancing, capacity planning, and takt time analysis to improve manufacturing efficiency.
- Collaborate with Design Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Logistics, and Operations to resolve manufacturing challenges.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, cost, delivery, and productivity (SQCDP).
- Support PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Validation, and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities.
- Lead troubleshooting activities during production and ensure rapid resolution of manufacturing issues.
- Utilize manufacturing KPIs to identify improvement opportunities and monitor process performance.
- Participate in equipment installation, commissioning, and production ramp-up activities.
- Ensure compliance with Caterpillar manufacturing standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements.

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Production Engineering.
- 3–8 years of manufacturing engineering experience in heavy equipment, automotive, or truck assembly.
- Experience supporting assembly lines for heavy machinery or off-highway equipment.
- Strong understanding of assembly processes, torque tools, fixtures, ergonomics, and production systems.
- Experience working in a cross-functional manufacturing environment.
