Flight Engineer/Aircraft Technician Job Description
The Flight Engineer reports to the Director of Aviation Maintenance and is responsible for flying on corporate aircraft during international travel. The role includes providing technical expertise during in-flight and AOG situations and ensuring the comfort and safety of passengers through cabin management practices. The Flight Engineer will have solid knowledge of on-board communication systems such as satellite TV, satellite internet, and Iridium phone systems.
During the home station, the Flight Engineer performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, launch/recovery support, and proper documentation of company aircraft in accordance with FAA regulations, manufacturers’ inspection and maintenance programs, and Department and Company policy.
- Perform maintenance, preventive maintenance, inspections, engine runs and taxi operations that conform to the standards established by the Company, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Be available to work nights, weekends, or flexible hours as determined by the flight schedule and optimize aircraft dispatch reliability and operational availability during international travel.
- Act as passenger service provider and safety coordinator, trained in evacuation procedures, medical aid, passenger service, and food handling procedures.
- Ensure cabin configuration and associated management functions are performed in accordance with Departmental policies, procedures, and FARs.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the use of all on-board passenger service and cabin entertainment equipment.
- Oversee that work performed by contract maintenance facilities is accomplished and properly documented in accordance with FAA and Abb Vie department requirements.
- Provide active participation in the Department Safety Management System (SMS).
- Assist in maintaining spare parts inventory, including ordering, shipping, and receiving.
- 2+ years of aviation maintenance/avionics experience.
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant certificate required.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues in time‑sensitive situations.
- Thorough understanding of avionics, electrical, and computer systems.
- Professional demeanor and excellent customer service skills.
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency with technology and computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office and related applications.
- Commitment to ongoing technical training and staying current with industry advancements through conferences and seminars.
- The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
This range may be modified in the future. Salary: $82,500 - $157,500. - We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick), medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k) to eligible employees.
