Position Purpose/

Summary:

The Compounding Supervisor is responsible to provide the overall supervision, direction, and coordination of the Compounding Department. Acts as liaison between the R&D and Manufacturing departments in the improvement and development of existing and new formulas and processes.

Position Responsibilities-Tasks-Deliverables:

  • Provide leadership using Lean Manufacturing concepts and tools to drive continuous improvements of manufacturing highest quality product at the lowest possible cost, highest quality, according to schedule, and with the highest safety.
  • Oversee activities related to the cost and efficiency of manufacturing product.
  • Work with R&D in new product development and to improve manufacturing processes for existing products.
  • Apply engineering practices to continually upgrade the quality, capacity, and efficiency of the Compounding Department. Includes working with Corporate Engineering to assist in major equipment design and installation.
  • Coordinate and develop personnel safety, welfare and training programs.
  • Work with customers and our team to develop, execute and maintain a daily blending schedule.
  • Manage the workforce and equipment to meet customer requirements and blending schedule requirements in quality and quantity.
  • Perform root cause analysis and provide corrective actions on quality related issues due to compounding failures.
  • Document and maintain compounding processes enabling analysis for ongoing process improvements.
  • Cultivate an educated, well trained and motivated staff.
  • Participate in work related seminars and classes to foster personal and professional growth.
  • Perform related duties and projects as assigned by management.

  • Consistently manages production activity to meet day to day expectations for quality, quantity, timeliness, and cost.

Qualifications

Knowledge-Skills-Abilities

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or related field

Experience:

  • 3-5 years' experience required (5-8 years preferred) in a contract manufacturing environment.
  • Must be flexible in hours to support Manufacturing on all 3 shifts.

Technology/Software:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
  • Experience with an ERP system in a manufacturing environment a plus.
  • Job experienced knowledge related to blending equipment, valves, piping, pumps, processing equipment required.

Communication:

  • Outstanding communication, analytical problem solving, decision-making, prioritization, and organization skills.

Physical Capabilities

Strength:
Must be able to regularly lift 55 lbs.

Movement:
Must be able to stand / walk for an entire eight hour shift. Occasional bending, crouching, and crawling

Hearing:
Must be able to hear and understand work direction in a loud, distracting environment

Vision:
Must be able to judge distance, identify details, and view computer screen regularly
