Position OverviewWe are seeking aFinishing Systems & Wastewater Treatment Technician to support the safe and reliable operation of finishing systems, pretreatment equipment, powder coating support equipment, conveyorized finishing assets, and wastewater treatment operations.
This position combines industrial maintenance, process equipment troubleshooting, environmental compliance, and production support within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, process discipline, safety awareness, documentation skills, and the ability to support both equipment reliability and wastewater treatment responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor, operate, inspect, and troubleshoot finishing systems, including:
- Pretreatment wash equipment
- Chemical treatment areas
- Powder coating support equipment
- Dry-off and cure ovens
- Powder recovery systems
- Conveyors and material handling equipment
- Operate and support wastewater treatment equipment associated with finishing and pretreatment operations.
- Perform routine checks on pumps, tanks, filters, chemical feed equipment, level controls, valves, sludge handling equipment, monitoring devices, and related process equipment.
- Collect, record, and communicate operating information, inspection results, process observations, chemical usage, equipment findings, and follow-up needs.
- Assist with wastewater sampling, treatment system checks, environmental documentation, and compliance-related activities.
- Perform preventive maintenance, including inspections, cleaning, lubrication, filter changes, adjustments, minor repairs, and component replacements.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues involving pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, chains, sprockets, rollers, valves, conveyors, pneumatic components, hydraulic components, and drive assemblies.
- Support electrical and controls troubleshooting within authorized levels, including sensors, VFDs, relays, motors, control panels, HMI alarms, and PLC-related faults.
- Identify abnormal equipment and process conditions, including leaks, unusual noise or vibration, excessive heat, chemical feed concerns, conveyor issues, oven performance concerns, and wastewater treatment irregularities.
- Communicate downtime risks, quality concerns, environmental concerns, and equipment issues to Maintenance, Production, EHS, and leadership.
- Complete work orders and preventive maintenance documentation accurately in the CMMS.
- Support housekeeping, chemical storage organization, parts staging, spare parts tracking, and 5S expectations.
- Follow all required safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, PPE, respirator, chemical handling, hot work, confined space, and fall protection requirements.
- Participate in continuous improvement, root cause analysis, maintenance planning, and reliability improvement initiatives.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 3+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, finishing systems, wastewater treatment, utilities, facilities, production support, or a related manufacturing environment preferred.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot process equipment, pumps, motors, valves, conveyors, and related components.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, meters, basic diagnostic tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions, safety procedures, chemical handling instructions, PM tasks, equipment manuals, and operating checklists.
- Basic computer skills for CMMS work orders, documentation, training records, and communication.
- Ability to work independently after appropriate training and authorization.
- Strong commitment to safety, environmental responsibility, housekeeping, attendance, teamwork, and accurate documentation.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate equipment problems, wastewater concerns, process observations, and follow-up needs.
