Position: Practice Manager, Primary & Urgent Care - Full-Time, Days

Be a part of a world‑class academic healthcare system,

, as a Practice Manager at our Homewood, Lansing, South Holland, and Beverly clinics. You will work alongside our Primary Care & Urgent Care clinic teams. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity and requires you to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.

Essential Job Functions
  • Day to day management of practice operations.
    • Establish staff schedule and daily assignments.
    • Responsible for time and attendance and monitoring overtime.
    • Oversight of practice specific issues with IS, facilities, EVS, supplies, etc.
    • Ensure practice compliance with regulatory agencies (e.g., JCAHO, IDPH, CAP/CLIA) and collaborate with providers and staff to ensure efficient patient throughput.
    • Actively monitor performance metrics and daily reports to make real‑time adjustments.
    • Ensure patients and families’ needs are met.
    • Participate in service recovery at the point of issue.
    • Ensure necessary follow‑up.
  • Responsible for performance management and performance evaluations for all employees.
  • Monitor the operating budget for labor and non‑labor expenses.
  • Oversee charge entry, denials, disputes, and bill holds.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare and customer service, ideally overseeing an ambulatory practice framework.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to manage large, complex organizational units with varying needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with physician leaders, preferably in an academic medical center environment.
  • Exceptional talent in the selection and mentoring of a high‑quality team.
  • Proven ability to use data to drive performance improvement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree.

  • Shift: Days – 8‑hour shifts, 7 am – 6 pm, plus 24‑hour accountability

Compensation & Benefits Overview

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position. The pay range is based on a full‑time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity.
