Clerical Assistant 1 Department of DHHS – Child Support Services Hourly Pay Rate: $15.75 to $23.63 Closing Date:
September 16, 2026, or sooner upon receipt of the first 50 application submissions received.
Job Summary:
The Clerical Assistant will maintain the KIDS database, process legal documents and provide necessary clerical support to ensure compliance with Federal Regulations, State Laws and mandates. This position allows the department to achieve performance measures set by the State of Wisconsin and to be able to provide timely and efficient services to families in Milwaukee County.
- Perform difficult and varied clerical task and data entry in an organizational unit with a high degree of accuracy.
- Entering and updating information and documents on the KIDS, On Base and E filing systems. Upload and download legal documents from standard database applications. Generate, edit, print and e-file in court databases various documents and letters within mandated time frames.
- To receive and send referrals for appropriate action in compliance with set guidelines. To file paperwork from various sources.
- Assemble documents for mailing and distribution to participants. Mail and fax various documents to participants, attorneys or other agencies.
- Performs any and all other duties as may be assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Current resident of State of Wisconsin
- One year of full-time clerical experience required
Skills and Abilities:
Customer contact with employees or others primarily at a routine level involving basic information exchange. Information exchange with peers and others outside the organization involving explanation of information and the gathering of factual information, which may include communication of sensitive or confidential nature. Gather information, answer queries, and/or ask for assistance. Read, write and comprehend simple instructions, type reports, short correspondence and memos.
Knowledge of all general office equipment including computers, copiers, fax machines and mulit-line phones.
