About this role

The Building Automation Field Supervisor - Data Centers is a team leader of a selected number of Field Engineers (FE) based on Data Centers in the Waukesha WI region. Their primary responsibility is managing and training direct employees, and verifying their work throughout the duration of Data Center projects. They mentor new hires into new construction field operations as well as current FEs.

They work with the Project Management group to coordinate timely completion of all assigned projects, ensuring the field staff has the proper knowledge and is executing work at or under the project‑specific budget. They are primarily responsible for coordinating all resources, internal and external, necessary for the execution of the new construction project their FEs are assigned to in Cora PPM.

Key Responsibilities COMMUNICATION AND DOCUMENTATION
  • Provide necessary documentation and communication to all customer levels, subcontractors (when necessary), and ALC Department Management.
  • Ensure proper time utilization from timesheet collection, site visits, and daily logs in Cora PPM.
  • Follow up on all daily log collection (Cora PPM) for the Field Engineers working for you and ensure timely delivery to New Construction Administration and Project Managers.
  • Utilize Cora PPM to generate reports, spreadsheets, and schedules when necessary.
  • Represent Automated Logic in meetings and proactively defend the company’s best interests.
  • Lead, document, and participate in yearly and semi‑yearly performance reviews for all employees.
  • Communicate with Engineering, Graphics developers, and programmers to provide feedback on quality, accuracy, and standards development.
BUDGET
  • Thoroughly understand project budgets for negotiated projects executed by the Field Supervisor’s team.
  • Continuously monitor work performed by FEs to ensure quality control, providing feedback regarding performance, budgets, and quality.
  • Attend and actively participate in turnover meetings, pre‑bid meetings, and other relevant meetings.
PROJECT PLANNING AND SCHEDULING
  • Collaborate with Project Manager to maximize project execution by coordinating task assignment in Cora PPM.
  • Participate in monthly meetings with Project Managers and Branch Operations Managers to assign resources for all projects.
  • Provide input to the Project Manager on when resources will be needed, including graphics, programming, and technical checkout.
  • Coordinate project schedule with subcontractors and other trades to maintain schedule, ensuring consistent communication with FEs, Project Managers, customers, and trades.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
  • Proficient in all necessary ALC programming and graphical work for assigned projects.
  • Provide technical assistance when needed and, when workload dictates, utilize other FEs to meet the project schedule.
LEADERSHIP & TEAM PLAY
  • Help develop and improve company standards.
  • Develop mentoring plans and continuously train new and current FEs.
  • Participate in peer reviews, turnover meetings, post‑mortem meetings, and close‑out meetings as required.
  • Assist in development of training and mentoring plans.
  • Participate in and conduct interviews with potential candidates.
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
  • Attend seminars, enroll in self‑study courses, and undertake other self‑improvement measures to maintain proficiency and improve job performance.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years of experience in the HVAC controls industry.
  • Valid and current driver’s license and be insurable by the company’s insurance carrier.
  • Ability to travel in excess of 25% of the typical workweek, including air travel, overnight hotel stays, and unexpected travel, and participate in rotating on‑call schedule.
  • Capable of climbing ladders or using other lift equipment above 8 feet and lifting items up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related subject matter.
  • Experience interacting with a large and diverse number of simultaneous challenges, requiring knowledge of multiple disciplines.
