The Department of Human Services at Carroll University (CU) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Wildlife Behavior or Zoo and Aquarium Studies at the Assistant Professor rank, beginning Fall 2026. This tenure-track position includes excellence in teaching, active scholarship, and meaningful service (60% teaching, 20% scholarship, 20% service).

Qualifications
* Ph.D. in Animal Behavior, Behavioral Ecology, Fisheries and Wildlife Science, Zoo and Aquarium Studies, Behavior Analysis, Ethology, Animal Science, Anthrozoology, Psychology, or related field.
* Broad training as a behavioral scientist with expertise and research experience focused on the behavior of captive or wild non-domesticated animals.
* Expertise in wildlife behavior or zoo and aquarium studies is preferred.
* Preference will be given to candidates with a documented record of excellence in teaching and the ability to engage historically marginalized students in the study of animal behavior.
* Candidates conducting research or other scholarship that is well-suited to a primarily undergraduate institution, actively involves undergraduate students, and demonstrates community and/or institutional impact are preferred.
Responsibilities
* Primary teaching responsibilities include:
* An introductory course on the Science of Animal Behavior
* An upper-level course on Observational Methods for Wildlife Behavior that involves student research at the Milwaukee County Zoo
* Supervision of internships,
* Some combination of upper-level elective courses in the candidate's area of expertise (e.g., Zoo and Aquarium Studies, Animal Nutrition and Husbandry, Wildlife Rehabilitation) and teaching in the University's general education curriculum, which includes first-year experience and general distribution courses.
* Development and maintenance of an active scholarship program with undergraduates, ideally integrating resources such as Carroll's 75-acre Greene Field Station (https://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).) or the Milwaukee County Zoo.
* Contribution to the development of Wildlife Studies programming in collaboration with faculty in Biology and Environmental Science is desired.
* Additional responsibilities include advising, curriculum development, course coordination, grant writing, and other service to the Animal Behavior (ANB) program and the University
Rank and Salary
* Assistant Professor (60% teaching, 20% scholarship, 20% service).
* This position is eligible for tenure.
* Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications.
The Program
The Animal Behavior Program includes two full-time faculty members and three contributing cross-disciplinary faculty. Housed within the School of Education and Human Services, the program supports approximately 140 undergraduate majors with broad interests across domesticated and non-domesticated species. Students are engaged in a range of professional experiences, including internships and research.
Program resources include:
* A 75-acre field station with diverse habitats including wetlands, prairie, and a trout stream
* Strong partnerships with the Milwaukee County Zoo and other community organizations
* Recently renovated laboratory teaching and research facilities
