** Engineering Technician II is responsible for performing electrical, mechanical, and environmental tests of current and new product designs under general supervision. Coordinates continuous improvement activities to reduce the potential for product defects. Works with Engineering and is involved with problem identification, containment activities, action plan creation and execution. Ensures that the test requirements for product testing and processes are defined and met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma;
2 years of relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience managing projects or participating in project teams;
Experience using specialized equipment such as engine dynamo meters;
Experience welding, shaping sheet metal, mill or turning (dependent on lab location).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Basic skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Able to work non-standard or extended work hours when necessary.
Demonstrate self-motivation.
Complete projects within guidelines.
Work effectively in a fast-pace, team environment.
Communicate effectively though written and oral means.
Demonstrate aptitude to lead and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
Understand basic electrical techniques and theories.
Demonstrate testing competence as required per ISO 17025 and the Laboratory Scope of Operations.
Provide own basic set of tools.

** Physical Demands**:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus.
