Position: Electrical Engineer - Architect (Circuit Design)

Job Description Summary

Main responsibilities for this role will be analog circuit design in controls, high speed data transfer and power. As an architect, you will be expected to drive design rigor on the team as well as coordinate electrical strategy with our digital architects/PE’s both locally and with overseas design teams. We are looking for a well‑rounded Electrical Engineer, that can execute on a variety of tasks (some fun, some mundane) as part of this super‑awesome, fun‑tastic team.

Job Description

Join a global engineering team utilizing advanced design tools and techniques to develop state‑of‑the‑art CT systems for leadership medical diagnostic imaging systems. The Engineer is responsible for driving elements of the multi‑generational product plan as well as product specific development plans.

Essential Responsibilities

The successful candidate in this role will support existing CT systems products and new product development programs with component design, equipment design, engineering analysis, and planning/conducting rigorous reliability and verification tests. There will be an emphasis on hands‑on engineering and component testing. This role requires the interaction with other service, manufacturing, and design engineering teams.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Design electrical and power electronics circuitry for Premium CT Hardware. Design, document and maintain Power Distribution architecture.
  • Strategize electrical / power design architecture for Premium CT Hardware.
  • Drive design rigor adhering to our best practices.
  • Capture electrical design schematic using an ECAD system.
  • Review and approve layout done on the ECAD system.
  • Drives and is accountable for operational excellence of assigned designs, projects and rigor, with duties including design, project reviews, feasibility analysis, cost benefit analysis, prioritization, resourcing, initiation, execution and closure.
  • Drive the development of prototypes, performance testing and design documentation.
  • Develop innovative designs to meet all requirements for performance, reliability, cost and manufacturability.
  • Identify, select, maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade test equipment.
  • Evaluate engineering test plan requests, and determine the best method/approach to achieve results.
  • Create, review, and execute development and reliability planning, testing, and analysis activities, and when needed coordinate resources and equipment needed to run engineering tests.
  • Proactively resolve and elevate issues across functions regarding issues found during engineering development and tests.
  • Clearly communicate status, issues, risks, and plans to management—especially “bad” news.
Required Qualifications
  • BS in Electrical Engineering and 7 years of industry electrical engineering experience.
  • Circuit design and simulation tool experience including schematic design.
  • Circuit Board Layout experience.
  • Schematic capture understanding / experience.
Desired Characteristics
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Switching power technologies design experience.
  • Practical experience with 150kVA systems and/or higher voltage.
  • Familiarity with digital electronics, switches, and flux capacitors.
  • Knowledge of standard drafting practices, product structuring, electronics modeling and drawing practices, and engineering analysis techniques.
  • Power and control simulation experience.
  • Buck/Boost and resonant converter design experience.
  • Design for reliability and manufacturing experience.
  • Demonstrated project planning capability.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute projects/programs.
  • Ability to multi‑task, both on projects within the electrical team and within the greater hardware team.
  • EMC compatible design/solution experience.
  • Someone that wants to grow in the role from circuit board design to overall team design strategy.
  • Global project experience.
  • Knowledge of UL/ETL/IEC standards and how they apply to designs.
  • FPGA/VHDL experience.
