Engineering Technician – Construction Materials Testing – Waukesha, WI
Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is actively seeking an Engineering Technician to join our Professional Services Industries, Inc. (Intertek-PSI) team in Waukesha, WI. This position offers a versatile career in the architectural, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) industry.
What you’ll do:
- Operate testing equipment and conduct tests of soils, concrete, masonry, reinforcing steel placement, fireproofing, and asphalt.
- Perform field and laboratory testing of soil samples and concrete specimens.
- Document daily activities, testing results, and prepare field reports.
- Use drawings, specifications, and diagrams to guide work.
- Work outdoors on a year‑round basis at various construction sites.
- Make detailed observations and provide limited interpretation of results.
- Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results.
- Operate a calculator to compute mathematical test results.
- Communicate effectively with clients and project teams.
- Adhere to safety practices and policies to protect yourself and others.
- Clean and maintain equipment and perform site cleanup.
- Interface with contractors and clients.

Minimum Requirements and
Qualifications:
- Basic math, calculator, and computer skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and understand work plans.
- Availability for off‑shift and overtime work.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record (required).
- Physical capability to lift, move, push, and pull 30‑50 pounds frequently (occasionally over 50 pounds with assistance).
- Ability to kneel, squat, walk, and stand for long periods.
- Capability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to climb occasionally.
Preferred Requirements and
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience in field and/or laboratory construction materials testing (preferred).
- ACI/ICC/WisDOT certifications (preferred).
