The Position

The Electrical Manager will be responsible for overseeing the completion of complex electrical projects for all asphalt and aggregate plants within the Walbec Group of companies. Primary duties include budgeting, design, and assisting in capital expenditure projects, as well as managing electrical projects and performing field work when necessary. The candidate must provide strong leadership while promoting a culture of ethics, safety, and compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure a safe and ethical work environment.
  • Be self-sufficient and require little direction to determine the scope of electrical projects and arrange for appropriate subcontractors or internal resources.
  • Assist as needed with the electrical design and troubleshooting of facility equipment at Asphalt or Aggregate facilities.
  • Provide support for developing current-year capital expenditure projects.
  • Keep equipment assessments current on electrical infrastructure at plant sites to layout a 5‑year plan for major electrical projects and capital expenditures.
  • Provide or assist in creating written job scopes, securing quotes and handling the competitive bid process.
  • Evaluate and review third‑party engineering conceptual designs, quotations and drawings for accuracy and communicate deficiencies for resolution in the best interest of the company.
  • Monitor subcontractors' work, manage project timelines and report completion progress as needed or requested.
  • Review and understand electrical codes and design specifications to effectively monitor job cost estimates and related reports.
  • Monitor project budgets and work quality; perform field inspections by visiting job sites and, if necessary, staying at sites for periods of time, and regularly report on project progress.
  • Assist in developing standard specifications for construction projects, startup and maintenance procedures, and training on new and existing systems.
  • Observe machine operation to detect product defects or malfunctions.
  • Test and troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment to determine repairs.
  • Maintain housekeeping in a clear and orderly fashion in all work areas.
  • Perform a variety of plant diagnostic, maintenance, repair, and installation operations.
  • Work under tight and critical deadlines with the ability to shift focus due to plant needs.
  • Work with management to develop and maintain a predictive maintenance plan for company assets.
  • Knowledge of MSHA is a plus.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in Electrical Management within construction or manufacturing environments.
  • Training and certification/licensing in the electrical field with a strong understanding of electricity and related components for large and small‑scale electrical work.
  • Working knowledge of electrical code guidelines and regulations in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan.
  • MUST be a team player.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities as well as consulting, conflict management, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to develop strong trusting relationships to gain support and achieve results.
  • Self‑directed and motivated with the ability to manage multiple, conflicting priorities.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to understand mechanical prints, electrical schematics, electrical prints, operation manuals, and follow step‑by‑step instructions.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability is preferred.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and mechanics is preferred.
  • VFD and PLC experience is a plus.
