Safety Engineer

Eaton's ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Safety Engineer. This role is located in Waukesha, WI. The expected annual salary range for this role is $71,000 - $105,000 a year. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

This position is responsible for supporting plant leadership in achieving risk reduction goals by leading safety and ergonomic improvements across the plant while developing and maintaining robust manufacturing processes. Additional responsibility includes executing the organization's strategic plan consistent with federal, state, and local regulations, established industry standards, and customer requirements. The candidate needs to be able to think outside the box, encompassing lean and manufacturing engineering principles, day in and day out.

In this role you will:

• Identify and mitigate safety hazards; enforce safety standards and conduct training.
• Lead root cause analysis and problem-solving to improve cost, quality, and performance.
• Support design reviews and new product development to ensure manufacturability and cost efficiency.
• Manage cross-functional projects with defined goals, budgets, and stakeholder communication.
• Drive and sustain process improvements using change management tools like ADKAR.
• Contribute to capital equipment selection and CAR development for new initiatives.
• Participate in manufacturing assessments, serving as lead or category champion when needed.

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
• Six (6) months of manufacturing experience, including internships/co-ops.

• 1-2 years of experience with safety engineering.
• Proficiency in various software applications – i.e., SAP, Computer Aided Design, Computer Aided Manufacturing, MS Office suite, Mini Tab
• Knowledge of OSHA Standards
• Knowledge of application of ergonomic principles in workstation design
• Thorough understanding of production environments (low volume/high mix and high volume/low mix) including safety/guarding requirements.
• Experience/Exposure to Fabrication, Welding, Assembly, or Coil Winding.
• Experience with lifting equipment – i.e, cranes, forklifts, hoists
• Detailed knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques – i.e., value stream mapping, one piece flow, 5S, Standard work, visual controls, daily accountability, process checks, etc.
• Thorough understanding of problem-solving methodologies used in determining root cause and formulating corrective action(s) - i.e., thought maps, 8D, root cause analysis, Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis, control charts, Pareto charts, etc.
