Sr. Controls Engineer

About the Role

Our Techniblend team is excited to add a Senior Controls Engineer to our growing team. In this role, you will design, develop, and implement control systems to automate machinery and processes. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to understand project requirements, develop control strategies, and ensure seamless integration with existing infrastructure. Your expertise in PLC programming, HMI development, and control theory will enable you to shape and refine our automation solutions.

• Design, develop, and implement control systems for automated machinery and industrial processes.
• Collaborate with project stakeholders to understand requirements and develop control strategies.
• Program PLCs, HMIs, and other control devices using industry‑standard languages (ladder logic, structured text).
• Conduct testing and commissioning of control systems, ensuring functionality, reliability, and safety.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to control systems.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to control systems and automation processes.
• Stay updated on advancements in control system technologies and assess applicability.
• Collaborate with external vendors and contractors for procurement and integration of components.
• Adhere to relevant regulatory standards and safety protocols.

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical and Controls Engineering or similar.
• 5+ years of experience in control systems engineering, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in PLC programming (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms) and HMI development.
• Strong understanding of control system theory, including PID control, motion control, and feedback mechanisms.
• Experience with industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc.
• Hands‑on experience with hardware/software integration and troubleshooting of control systems.
• Advanced problem‑solving skills and ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
• Proven leadership abilities and a track record of successfully leading and mentoring engineering teams.
• Familiarity with regulatory standards such as NEC, NFPA, ANSI, UL508A, etc.
• Ability to travel up to 25% within the U.S. and Canada.
