Lead Electrical Engineer - Power Distribution, Controls & System IntegrationWe're partnering with Burger Boat Company to hire a Lead Electrical Engineer in Manitowoc, WI. This role combines hands on engineering and technical leadership, with 50% of your time focused on design, troubleshooting, and systems integration and the balance dedicated to project management, vendor oversight, and engineering leadership. You'll play a key role in projects ranging from custom yacht builds to commercial vessel refits, supporting 90-to-180-foot vessels while overseeing power distribution, communications, navigation, and other critical systems.
Shipbuilding experience is helpful, but the team is really looking for engineers from other complex electrical environments with strong power distribution experience. With a focus on craftsmanship, this is not a high-volume production environment, allowing engineers to prioritize quality over speed while enjoying a level of work life balance that is increasingly difficult to find. And the best part? If you enjoy seeing your work come to life, this is a rare opportunity to build something most engineers never have the chance to experience.
- Lead electrical engineering efforts across custom build and refurbishment projects
- Provide technical leadership to an Electrical Engineer and external engineering partners
- Support electrical system design, troubleshooting, and integration activities
- Review engineering deliverables including drawings, schematics, and BOMs
- Coordinate third-party engineering vendors to ensure quality, timing, and budget goals
- Manage project schedules, priorities, and engineering resource requirements
- Partner with teams to resolve technical issues during construction and commissioning
- Support power generation and distribution, controls, communications, and navigation systems
- Evaluate engineering changes and ensure successful implementation across projects
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and 7+ years of engineering experience
- Experience designing, troubleshooting, and supporting complex electrical systems
- Strong background in AC/DC power distribution systems and low/high voltage applications
- Experience leading complex electrical projects from concept through implementation
