An established industrial automation organization is seeking a Controls Engineer to support the design, programming, integration, and commissioning of custom automated systems. This position offers a mix of controls engineering, hands‑on troubleshooting, and cross‑functional project collaboration in a fast‑paced manufacturing and automation environment.
Position Responsibilities- Design and develop electrical control systems for custom automation equipment
- Program and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, motion controllers, and related automation hardware
- Create electrical schematics, panel layouts, and system documentation using electrical CAD software
- Support integration with existing production equipment and third‑party systems
- Assist with equipment startup, commissioning, debug, and troubleshooting activities
- Coordinate with mechanical engineering, robotics, assembly, and project management teams throughout project execution
- Support electrical assembly and panel build efforts to ensure compliance with project requirements
- Participate in system testing, validation, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Occasionally travel to customer sites for installation support, startup assistance, and service work
- Experience with PLC, HMI, and motion control programming
- Hands‑on experience programming and troubleshooting Allen‑Bradley and Siemens PLC/HMI platforms, with exposure to Ignition SCADA development, integration, and system support.
- Knowledge of industrial electrical systems, power distribution, sensors, VFDs, servos, and automation devices
- Ability to create and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
- Familiarity with industrial machinery safety and electrical standards
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem‑solving abilities
- Hands‑on mindset with the ability to support field and shop activities as needed
