Xylem is seeking a Senior Application Engineer to support the refurbishment of existing ozone installations in municipal and industrial water treatment applications. This role is responsible for developing technical solutions for installed-base projects, beginning with site assessments through proposal development, contract handoff, and project support. The ideal candidate will combine strong engineering judgment with customer-facing application expertise and experience supporting custom engineered or retrofit solutions.
This position works closely with sales, channel partners, engineering, sourcing, and project management teams to deliver technically sound, commercially viable refurbishment solutions that improve reliability, extend equipment life, and support customer performance goals.
** Key Responsibilities
** Support Xylem sales teams, distributors, and representatives with technical and application engineering expertise for Wedeco ozone refurbishment opportunities.
Conduct site visits, as needed, to inspect existing installations, assess equipment condition, identify upgrade opportunities, and prepare condition assessment reports with recommended refurbishment scopes.
Evaluate existing ozone systems and related elements such as ozone generators, power supply components, dielectric elements, cooling systems, feed gas systems, ozone contacting equipment, destruction systems, instrumentation, controls, and ancillary mechanical or electrical equipment to define solutions for repair, replacement, retrofit, or modernization.
Review customer specifications and project requirements to determine compliance, identify deviations, and define clear technical scopes.
Develop cost estimates, lead times, and technical/commercial proposals for municipal and industrial refurbishment projects.
Coordinate with internal engineering, sourcing, project management, and operations teams to support scope development, order entry, handoff, and execution.
Establish costs for major buyout items and support development of engineering bills of material and ERP order requirements.
Maintain accurate opportunity and project information in Salesforce and support active communication across internal and external stakeholders.
Report customer complaints, field issues, and warranty matters to appropriate internal teams.
** Required Qualifications
** Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
Experience in application engineering, project engineering, aftermarket engineering, custom equipment, or refurbishment/retrofit solutions within industrial, water, or wastewater markets.
Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, and customer requirements and translate them into practical engineered solutions.
Experience preparing technical proposals, estimates, and scope documentation.
Strong communication, collaboration, and customer-facing skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Ability to travel as needed for site visits, customer meetings, and project support.
** Preferred Qualifications
** Experience with ozone systems, disinfection systems, advanced oxidation, or related water treatment technologies.
Experience supporting refurbishment, retrofit, modernization, or aftermarket projects for installed equipment.
