Controls Engineer

We are looking for a Controls Engineer to join our growing team. We design and build custom robotic automation systems for manufacturers across the Midwest — and we're looking for someone who loves turning complex control challenges into reality.

In this role, you'll own the full lifecycle of industrial control systems. This is a design-heavy position — you'll spend the majority of your time on hardware architecture, schematic development, panel layouts, and component specification, with PLC and HMI programming as a strong secondary focus.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop hardware architecture, panel layouts, and wiring schematics using AutoCAD Electrical
  • Specify PLCs, HMIs, drives, sensors, and perform load calculations and VFD sizing
  • Design control system interfaces for new equipment and existing/third-party machines
  • Program Allen-Bradley Compact Logix / Control Logix (Studio 5000), Factory Talk View, Siemens TIA Portal, and Codesys platforms
  • Support Fanuc robot integration (TP / Karel)
  • Lead commissioning, system testing, debug, and startup validation at our facility and customer sites
  • Collaborate daily with mechanical engineers, robot programmers, and project managers

What We're Looking For:

  • Strong experience in industrial control system design and electrical engineering
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical, Rockwell Automation platforms, and industrial networking (Ether Net/IP)
  • Hands-on troubleshooting and commissioning skills
  • Familiarity with machinery safety standards (ANSI B11, ISO 13849, NFPA 79, UL 508A)
  • A collaborative mindset and desire to grow — no degree required. We hire based on ability and potential.

Travel is infrequent and limited to customer sites in Wisconsin and surrounding states.

You'll work in a supportive, team-oriented environment where you'll never feel isolated — our full in-house engineering, assembly, and service teams are always ready to collaborate and help you succeed.

If you're excited about designing and programming custom automation systems that make a real impact for manufacturers, we want to hear from you.
