We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer IV to provide advanced technical expertise in the development of new products and the continuous improvement of legacy power systems. The engineer will be responsible for medium-voltage power circuit design, electrical system studies, component selection and sizing, product validation, and compliance with applicable electrical codes and industry standards.
The successful candidate will serve as a technical authority throughout the product development lifecycle—from concept and design through validation, certification, production release, and market launch. This position will also provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers across the organization while collaborating closely with manufacturing, product management, suppliers, and cross-functional engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design, development, validation, and market launch of power generation and power conversion products.
- Own key technical decisions from product concept through production release.
- Define electrical functional requirements and architect power circuits, electrical distribution systems, and protection schemes
. - Design and integrate complex electrical components and subsystems while evaluating cost, reliability, safety, performance, and manufacturability.
- Design medium-voltage (1 kV–38 kV) power equipment and distribution architectures
, including: - MV switch gear
- Paralleling equipment
- Transformers
- Power conversion systems
- Busbars and cabling
- Insulation coordination
- BIL selection
- Creepage and clearance requirements
- Perform and review electrical system studies, including:
- Load-flow analysis
- Short-circuit analysis
- Protection coordination
- Insulation coordination
- Select, size, and validate electrical power components including transformers, circuit breakers, contractors, busbars, cables, and associated protection devices
. - Develop grounding, bonding, thermal-management, and electrical integration strategies.
- Apply knowledge of power electronics topologies, including rectifiers, inverters, and DC/DC converters
, and their electrical integration requirements. - Design for and evaluate EMC/EMI performance
, including mitigation strategies and compliance testing. - Develop and execute comprehensive test and validation plans using bench-level, component, system, dielectric/hipot, environmental, and fault-injection testing methods.
- Develop and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, material specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), and product specifications.
- Support product certification and ensure compliance with applicable UL, IEC, NEC, IEEE, CSA, ANSI
, and other regulatory requirements. - Apply MV-specific testing practices, including dielectric/hipot and partial-discharge testing.
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineering, contract manufacturers, designers, suppliers, and product specialists to optimize designs for manufacturability, cost, quality, and reliability
. - Drive product development activities to achieve committed schedules, costs, technical requirements, and design milestones.
- Perform engineering risk assessments, cost-benefit analysis, reliability evaluations, and design-effectiveness reviews.
- Lead or participate in machine and electrical system design activities from initial concept through production.
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to less-experienced engineers.
- Participate in technical communities, standards organizations, and industry working groups as appropriate.
- Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, product performance, quality, reliability, and financial impact.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
. - 7+ years of relevant professional engineering experience
. - Demonstrated experience with electrical design and engineering of complex power systems or equipment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and engineering judgment capabilities.
Electrical & Power Systems Expertise
- Proven experience designing electrical systems for power generation, power conversion, or power distribution equipment

- Generators
- Transfer switches
- Switchgear
- Paralleling equipment
- Transformers
- Power conversion systems
- Strong expertise in medium-voltage power applications
