Dunn County Human Services is seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Therapist to join our Behavioral Health team.
This dynamic role provides the opportunity to work across two impactful programs:
Choices, also known as First Episode Psychosis (FEP) and the Community Support Program (CSP). In this position, the licensed therapist will deliver direct therapeutic services to individuals experiencing early psychosis and those with serious and persistent mental illness, and will provide clinical support and consultation to multidisciplinary teams, helping to shape recovery‑oriented care in a collaborative environment. As part of our dedicated team, you’ll expand your clinical expertise while making services accessible to those who are underinsured, uninsured, or otherwise limited in their ability to access care.

The anticipated starting wage is between $77,188.80 annually and $83,200 annually.

This position further requires the clinician to obtain and/or maintain full licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Licensed Psychologist (LP) within the time frames established by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS).
PrimaryResponsibilities Mental Health Therapist
- Provides therapy services using clinically appropriate techniques and approaches at the Department of Human Services or in the community.
- Evaluates and diagnoses mental health concerns and needs.
- Administers, completes, and evaluates mental health screeners such as the GAD-7, PHQ-9, ACES, Resiliency Screener, couple’s/family screener, and Columbia Suicide Severity Screener.
- Maintains clinical flexibility and pivots between modalities (individual, couples, and family) based on client response, crisis needs, or evolving treatment direction.
- Develops treatment plans with consumers.
- Prepares for therapy sessions with consumers, including researching the best therapeutic approach, researching diagnosis, and preparing worksheets/homework.
- Researches and prepares curriculum for group therapy.
- Provides case management to clients and their team as needed.
- Provides clinical consultation and support to DHS staff, both with and without the consumer present, related to the direction of care and consumer safety.
- Collaborates with other service providers within and outside of DHS, including probation/parole, drug treatment court, family treatment court, physicians, family care teams, law enforcement, etc.
- Provides crisis assessments on a walk‑in basis as well as crisis assessments to already established consumers.
- Completes crisis linkage and follow‑up for persons who have interacted with the crisis system and/or been in a mental health crisis.
- Develops crisis plans and alerts for consumers at risk of needing crisis intervention.
- Maintains data for crisis services.
- Assists with the coordination of mental health crisis services within the Department of Human Services and Dunn County as a whole.
