Summary/ObjectiveThe HR Generalist is responsible for leading all human resources functions within a food manufacturing facility. This role ensures compliance with employment laws and food industry regulations, supports operational goals through effective workforce management, and fosters a positive, safe, and high‑performance workplace culture. The HR Generalist partners closely with the HR team in headquarters and plant leadership to drive employee engagement, retention, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
EssentialFunctions
- Manage full‑cycle recruiting for production workers and professional staff, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding.
- Rapidly fill positions during peak seasons to maintain production needs.
- Act as a point of contact for employee issues, conducting investigations, facilitating conflict resolution, and managing disciplinary actions.
- Oversee leave management (FMLA) and maintain accurate records in HRIS systems.
- Coordinate employee training, development initiatives, and performance appraisal process.
- Act as the primary contact for employees at two plants (Almena and Barron).
- Partner with employees and plant management to communicate human resource policies, procedures, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, e.g., FLSA, FMLA, ADA, OSHA, and OSHA safety regulations.
- Lead investigations and resolve employee relations issues in a timely and fair manner.
- Oversee performance management processes and support leadership coaching.
- Conduct exit interviews, identify trends, and make recommendations for corrective action and continuous improvement.
- Prepare and maintain employee files.
- Facilitate or provide training (including orientation) to employees.
- Maintain compliance with food manufacturing regulatory standards as they relate to workforce practices (e.g., GMP training documentation).
- Promote a positive workplace culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and safety.
- Communicate and explain company policies and employee handbook.
- Participate in audits, reporting, and recordkeeping requirements.
- Other duties as requested.
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field
HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM‑CP, or SHRM‑SCP) preferred
3+ years of HR experience, preferably in manufacturing or food production
Strong knowledge of employment law and compliance requirements
Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
Excellent problem‑solving and conflict resolution abilities
Ability to work in a fast‑paced production environment
High level of discretion and confidentiality
Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office
Bilingual Spanish is a plus
Salary Range$75,000 - $85,000 annually plus bonus
