WORK ASSIGNMENT DETAILSWaukesha County Department of Public Works Highway Operations Division is seeking a seasoned leader to join its Patrol Superintendents Team (total of 4 Superintendents).
In this role, you'll plan, coordinate, and supervise a comprehensive maintenance and repair program for State and County maintained roads and highways. Strong leadership skills are highly valued for managing the daily activities and handling of emergencies affecting road conditions.
Key Responsibilities:- Plan, coordinate, and supervise the maintenance and repair of roads and highways.
- Schedule and implement road projects, coordinate with crews and involved parties.
- Handle materials, supply inventory, and safety operations.
- Train staff in work procedures and safety practices.
- Evaluate staffing levels and methods to optimize road project execution.
- Investigate public complaints and coordinate with law enforcement and other agencies regarding emergencies.
- Oversee and maintain accurate records for budgets, projects, and environmentally hazardous materials.
- Perform duties of Highway Operations Manager in their absence and represent department in Emergency Operations Center as required.
- Availability on a 24/7 basis in response to emergencies.
- Strong record-keeping and project management abilities.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions.

(a Patrol Superintendent may be called upon at any time to respond to emergency situations such as snowstorms, windstorms, flooding, traffic accidents, fires)
- Summer Hours - (consisting of four (4), ten (10) hour days)
- Winter Hours - 0630 to 01230 (consisting of five (5), eight (8) hour days, M-F)
Prior to hiring, the successful candidate is required to pass work/education/certification reference(s), a criminal background and driver's license check, and a Physical Exam consisting of an audiogram and DOT drug test.
