ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and State laws/practice act.
- Performs assessments, planning, intervention and evaluation of care.
- Documents according to standards of care.
- Develops, initiates, and executes a patient plan of care according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or clinic policy including patient and family instruction.
- Utilizes resources available to teach and support patient and family education. Provides education appropriate to the level of understanding.
- Acts to resolve systems breakdowns and engages self and others in providing solutions.
- Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities, may include shared governance.
- Utilizes clinical expertise and guidance to other units/departments in support of the patient's longitudinal plan of care.
- Utilizes critical thinking in regard to patient safety and patient experience and appropriately escalates to the appropriate chain of command.
- Participates in the professional nursing continuum process, unit/department practice activities and decisions and peer review process.
- Positively influences the professional and organizational environments and shared governance.
- Engages in personal development and supports system‑entity opportunities for continuous learning and growth including developing or revising evidence‑based practice guidelines.
- Actively participates in mentoring and precepting new partners to the organization.
- Offers ideas and/or solutions to practice issues.
- Uses innovative methods and intuitive skills to develop and implement plans of care.
- Provides innovative ways to educate patient/families.
- Initiates interdisciplinary collaboration to meet the patient/family educational needs.
- Requires IL: 20 Continuing Education Units (10 required for IL licensure) or WI: 20 Education Hours.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Associate Diploma in Nursing (ADN)/Diploma RN with a signed BSN Agreement.
- ADN/Diploma RN with 5 years of RN experience.
- ADN with Professional Nursing Certification.
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience required.
- Licensed as an RN in state of practice.
- Approved CPR/BLS certification required within 90 days.
- Other certification(s) per department requirement (e.g., ACLS, PALS, PEARS, NRP).
Passing the Driver's License Check and/or Credit Check (for positions requiring).
Passing the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or IL Health Care Workers Background Check.
Must be able to follow written/oral instructions.
