Overview

An advanced technology organization is seeking a Senior R&D Chemist to lead the design, execution, and analysis of experiments supporting complex chemical process development in a highly regulated environment. This role plays a key part in radio chemical and materials-focused research, supporting process optimization, safety, and regulatory compliance for next-generation industrial applications.

  • Design, develop, and optimize chemical separation processes for complex materials using advanced laboratory techniques
  • Lead and execute experimental programs supporting isotope-related production processes and materials recycling initiatives
  • Apply techniques such as column chromatography, solvent extraction, and crystallization to solve challenging separation problems
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including chemistry, process engineering, and regulatory or licensing groups
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate analytical and radio analytical instrumentation such as ICP-MS, XRD, HPLC, HPGe, and LSC
  • Contribute to research innovation by authoring or supporting technical proposals for internal and external funding opportunities
  • Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and laboratory materials in accordance with established procedures and regulations
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Radiochemistry, Nuclear Engineering, or a related field required
  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, or radiochemistry preferred
  • Strong background in metal ion chemistry, separation science, and analytical techniques
  • Experience working with radioactive materials is a plus but not required, training will be provided
  • Prior experience with complex material separations such as solvent extraction, crystallization, or chromatographic techniques strongly preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing technical reports or research proposals
