Amentum is seeking an Electrical Controls Technician IV for our facility operations & maintenance team in Waukesha, WI. The typical work schedule is AWS Night Shift (6:00 PM - 6:00 AM). The Electrical Controls Technician IV is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, programming (CNC and PLC) and servicing all aspects of facility and production equipment. Must have the ability to maintain, improve, and participate in troubleshooting for the associated machinery and critical-to-production equipment.

Works with Allen Bradley, Wago, Wonderware, Honeywell, Edstrom, GE, GE Historian, Emerson, Siemens Controls, Schneider Electric BAS platforms, Cimplicity BAS platforms, associated instrumentation, and utility metering and monitoring. This position may collaborate with other specialized technicians or subcontractors to perform facility‑related repairs and other technical services. Provides instruction, mentors and trains less skilled technicians as needed. Effectively communicates with the site management team and the customer to understand requirements and solve complex monitoring and control problems.

The Electrical Controls Technician must identify and correct safety‑related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations to identify potential equipment failures. General maintenance of equipment may also be required.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain and repair facility and production systems and equipment, as well as related mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Program, modify and interface with various MMI (HMI) devices.
  • Leverage proficiency in electronic data communication methods such as Profibus, Profi‑net, SCADA, Ethernet and remote I/O wired and wireless communication platforms.
  • Develop ladder logic and troubleshoot existing logic.
  • Interface with onsite machine‑tool SCADA and develop relevant HMIs in conjunction with historian data.
  • Conceive and realize automated solutions implementing control schemes.
  • Assure calibration and maintenance of instrumentation, equipment, and controls for optimum performance.
  • Respond to emergencies and immediately stabilize the facility.
  • Perform plant alignment and switching to facilitate critical environment workflows.
  • Monitor suppliers and third‑party vendors as required.
  • Create and manage procedures and other documentation to facilitate critical environment workflows.
  • Record details and resource requirements for all critical environment activities.
  • Identify solutions and assist with procurement of spare parts.
  • Identify and document cost savings.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Create and modify procedures for equipment and recommend facilities reliability improvements.
  • Respond to and provide service and feedback on all work orders while assuring compliance to codes, regulations and industry standards.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail, good analytical skills, and excellent organizational skills.
  • Understand company policies and enforce safety regulations.
  • Safely perform functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout procedures, and wearing PPE as required.
  • Operate measuring, diagnostic and testing instruments to provide energy efficiency solutions.
  • Operate hand tools, laptop computers and diagnostic hardware.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience performing electrical and mechanical machine‑tool service and repair in a heavy industrial environment, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
  • Wear steel‑toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other personal protective equipment as needed.
  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.
