Position Summary
The Framer Foreman at Suburban Drywall is responsible for overseeing and performing framing operations on active job sites, ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with project specifications. This role leads onsite labor, interprets blueprints and structural shop drawings, and oversees both interior and exterior framing activities. The Foreman is responsible for laying out walls, soffits, and other structural elements, as well as documenting and communicating field changes to the field supervisor or project manager.
They also ensure compliance with safety standards, coordinate with other supervisors as needed, and support project completion by maintaining quality, schedule, and jobsite efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand the full scope of work for framing.
- Read and understand project blueprints.
- Lay out walls and other necessary information needed to erect walls and soffits.
- Document any changes to floor plans that require extra material and labor for billing purposes.
- Inform the field supervisor or project manager of any plan discrepancies or changes.
- Follow Suburban’s safety protocol, GC site safety requirements, and OSHA standards.
- Attend onsite foreman meetings required by the general contractor.
- Keep records of onsite tools and hardware.
- Direct onsite labor to accomplish schedule deadlines.
- Communicate with personnel about specific materials installed.
- Review materials and quality of framing before, during, and after completion.
- Maintain company tools and vehicle; report any necessary maintenance needed.
- Report any project or health hazards to the GC or field supervisor that may arise near the immediate work area.
- Complete framing or drywall work to maintain schedule completion and assembly requirements.
- Communicate with the field supervisor about any necessary equipment or material needs.
- Operate all tools used in framing and miscellaneous carpentry duties.
- Work directly with other supervisors, as well as other Suburban divisions.
- Read and follow structural shop drawings from the light gauge engineer.
- Order site materials as needed for site production
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Several years of proven experience in steel stud framing
- Prior experience as a foreman or crew leader strongly preferred
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and plans
- Gas and powder-actuated tool certification preferred; additional training is available.
- Aerial lift/scissor lift certification preferred.
- Basic power tool knowledge.
- Detail-oriented.
- Basic math skills.
