Job Description Summary

Join our Firmware team as a key contributor in architecting, developing, and integrating embedded software for cutting‑edge Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) products. In this role, you will build and maintain real‑time firmware components that interface closely with custom hardware, deliver deterministic performance, and meet high standards for reliability, safety, and testability. You will work across the full life cycle – from requirements and design through implementation and verification – collaborating with cross‑functional engineering teams to advance our MR platforms and improve patient care.

  • Lead firmware development efforts including technical planning, execution, and progress tracking.
  • Design, develop, and maintain embedded software/firmware that meets stringent quality, reliability, real‑time performance, and testability requirements.
  • Collaborate with system, hardware, and architecture teams to translate requirements into robust firmware designs and well‑defined hardware interfaces.
  • Partner with global teams and architects to drive consistent design patterns and architectural improvements across products.
  • Conduct and participate in design and code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices, coding standards, and regulatory expectations.
  • Execute work within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), contributing to PI planning, sprint execution, and continuous improvement.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering technical growth, code quality, and strong engineering practices.
  • Demonstrate strong ownership and accountability by driving work to closure, proactively communicating status and risks, and reliably following through on commitments.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 8 years of experience designing, developing, and debugging embedded/firmware software using C++ and object‑oriented design (including on‑target troubleshooting).
Desired Characteristics

  • 3 years of experience using continuous integration and automated testing.
  • 5 years of experience in embedded system troubleshooting and on‑target debug using tools such as emulators, JTAG debuggers, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers.
  • 5 years of experience working with a Realtime OS such as VxWorks.
  • Experience using a Linux development environment and containers.
  • Passionate user of AI‑assisted development tools (e.g., code comprehension, testing, refactoring, reviews, documentation) in compliance with security, privacy, and quality guidelines.
  • Experience in a regulated environment requiring rigor in documentation of requirements, designs, testing, and results.
  • Experience working on medical devices within a Quality Management System (QMS).
