About the RoleThe Steel Estimator prepares accurate and competitive cost estimates for structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects. You will interpret drawings and specifications, perform material takeoffs, and work closely with engineering, detailing, project management, and vendors to deliver complete and feasible bids.
Key Responsibilities- Review drawings and bid documents
- Perform material takeoffs and pricing
- Communicate with vendors and identify scope gaps
- Participate in bid reviews and maintain bid calendars
- Support continuous improvement and cost database updates
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and long term estimating initiatives
- 2 to 5 years experience in structural steel estimating, fabrication, or construction
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred
- Proficiency in steel takeoffs, pricing, and bid preparation
- Strong ability to read structural drawings and connection details
- Understanding of fabrication, erection, coatings, and industry standards
- Familiarity with AISC codes and tools such as Tekla EPM, Fab Suite, and Bluebeam
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
