Position: Electric Distribution Designer I

Overview

The Electric Distribution Designer I position is responsible for directing, coordinating, and exercising functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of electric distribution installation projects for Electric Utility Companies within Wisconsin.

Responsibilities
  • Complete electrical distribution design projects (underground and overhead) by self or in conjunction with support staff to meet needs of Electric Utility Clients.
  • Collect field data.
  • Analyze engineering sketches, specifications, and related data and drawings to produce final product.
  • Complete tabs and populate information in proprietary customer software.
  • Complete permitting process with local authorities.
  • Coordinate with construction crew for installation of facilities per the design.
  • Coordinate with customers on all aspects of project.
  • Review design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, client requirements, and related specifications.
  • Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Required Knowledge/Skills
  • 10 years minimum experience in utility industry, preferably design related, but willing to train the right person in the necessary design parameters if they possess the appropriate working knowledge of the industry.
  • Ability to manage numerous tasks/projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to direct and work with other employees.
  • Must be self-directed and work with minimal supervision.
  • Effective technical writing and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize daily work, including tracking and managing competing priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of management within the organization.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word.
  • Position will work on projects primarily in Wisconsin.
