We are seeking a knowledgeable and well-rounded Human Resources Generalist to provide comprehensive HR support across multiple functional areas, including employee relations, payroll, recruiting and retention, benefits administration, performance management, training, HRIS, policy administration, safety, and employment law compliance.

In this role, you will serve as a trusted resource for employees and management while partnering closely with the Senior HR Manager to support organizational goals and promote the consistent application of HR policies, programs, and best practices. An HR Generalist, You Will
  • Administer various human resource plans and procedures for employees throughout the organization and assist with the development, implementation, maintenance, and administration of personnel policies, procedures, and the employee handbook.
  • Serve as an HR resource and consultant to the management team regarding HR programs, processes, policies, and applicable state and federal employment laws.
  • Act as an employee advocate while balancing employee needs with company goals and business objectives.
  • Participate in the development of HR department goals, objectives, systems, and initiatives.
  • Assist with the administration of the company’s compensation program and monitor the performance evaluation program, recommending revisions as necessary.
  • Serve as the company’s payroll lead and administrator for all locations.
  • Support company efforts to maintain a safe work environment and assist with functions and initiatives related to workplace safety.
  • Assist with the maintenance and administration of the company’s HRIS, including management of internal systems and assistance with troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Lead and/or review processes related to employee timekeeping.
  • Develop, maintain, and process a variety of HR-related reports, including safety, turnover, organizational charts, training records, logs, and other reporting needs.
  • Lead recruitment efforts for professional, office, production, and temporary positions.
  • Lead and/or assist with workplace investigations, dispute resolution, disciplinary actions, and termination processes.
  • Provide support related to employee relations counseling, performance management, outplacement counseling, and exit interviews.
  • Assist in evaluating HR processes, decisions, and department results in relation to established goals and recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to continually improve department efficiency and the services provided to employees and management.
  • Lead a variety of company events and initiatives designed to increase employee morale, support retention, and promote overall employee wellness.
  • Maintain accurate HRIS records and compile reports and information from the system as needed.
  • Support and maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment and benefit laws and regulations.

This position is ideal for an HR professional who enjoys wearing multiple hats and working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be comfortable moving between day-to-day HR responsibilities and larger initiatives, while building strong relationships with employees and leaders throughout the organization.

Requirements

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant HR experience will be considered. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred, but not required.

Experience:

Two to five years of HR experience required.

Skills and Key Attributes:

Ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities.

Strong organization and time management skills. Ability to interact with a wide variety of personalities in a fluctuating work environment.

Good listening, speaking and presenting skills. Customer focused attitude

Strong computer skills

Ability to work under limited Supervision. Ability to travel to remote facilities

Physical Requirements:

Ability to communicate in person, via phone and email with NORD employees and general public. Ability to either sit/stand in alternating fashion for long periods of time. Ability to lift up to 5lbs on consistent basis
