Inventory Control Specialist

Position Summary

The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate physical inventory and ERP system inventory records within a metal fabrication manufacturing environment. This position ensures inventory integrity through cycle counting, physical inventory audits, transaction verification, material reconciliation, and continuous monitoring of inventory processes. The Inventory Control Specialist works closely with Purchasing, Production, Shipping, Receiving, and Planning to ensure inventory accuracy supports on‑time production and customer deliveries.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years of inventory control, warehouse, manufacturing, or materials management experience.
• Experience working within an ERP system in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and inventory reporting tools.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations accurately.
• Experience with cycle counting and physical inventory processes.
• Understanding of inventory control best practices and material flow.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems.

• Inventory Control – Maintains accurate inventory records by monitoring stock levels, verifying quantities, conducting audits, and ensuring materials are properly accounted for throughout the manufacturing process.
• ERP System Proficiency – Effectively utilizes the company’s ERP system to process inventory transactions, research discrepancies, maintain accurate records, and generate inventory‑related reports.
• Inventory Reconciliation – Identifies, investigates, and resolves differences between physical inventory counts and ERP system records to maintain inventory integrity.
• Cycle Counting & Physical Inventory – Performs scheduled cycle counts and physical inventory audits using established procedures to verify inventory accuracy and support financial controls.
• Material Traceability – Maintains material identification and tracking throughout receiving, storage, production, and shipping processes to support quality, compliance, and customer requirements.

• Attention to Detail – Identifies and corrects errors in financial data or documentation.
• Numerical Accuracy – Ensures all transactions, balances, and reconciliations are mathematically correct.
• Data Verification & Validation – Cross‑checks entries to ensure consistency across systems.
• Process Improvement – Suggests ways to streamline accounting procedures or improve accuracy.

• Lifting of materials and products, typically up to 50 pounds, occasionally heavier with assistance to access and count inventory.
• Standing and walking for periods (2+ hours per shift) on concrete floors.
• Bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching to access materials.
• Manual handling of awkward or heavy metal parts with sharp edges (PPE required).
• Visual acuity required to inspect parts, read labels, and verify shipping documents.
