The Metal Punch Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC or manual punching machines to produce sheet metal components according to specifications. This role ensures efficient production, adherence to quality standards, and compliance with all safety procedures.

• Set up and operate metal punch machines (CNC turret punch press or manual punch) to cut, form, and shape sheet metal parts.
• Load, position, and secure metal sheets for punching operations.
• Adjust machine settings, tooling, and programs to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
• Inspect parts for accuracy and quality using precision measuring instruments (calipers, gauges, micrometers).
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and job instructions.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and report malfunctions or safety concerns.
• Record production output, downtime, and quality checks in logs or ERP system.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in compliance with company policies.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by recommending process improvements.

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training in manufacturing or machining preferred.
• 1–3 years of experience operating metal punch machines, turret presses, or similar sheet metal equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Proficiency with measuring tools and quality inspection methods.
• Mechanical aptitude with strong troubleshooting skills.
• Basic computer/CNC programming knowledge preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

• Machine Operation Knowledge – Proficient in operating CNC or manual punch presses, including setup, adjustments, and troubleshooting.
• Blueprint Reading – Accurately interprets engineering drawings, part specifications, and work orders.

• Mechanical Aptitude – Strong understanding of metal punching, tooling, and forming processes.
• Basic CNC/Computer Skills – Able to enter data, run programs, and complete production reporting in ERP or shop systems.
