Maintenance Technician
This Maintenance Technician role focuses on maintaining and troubleshooting high-speed automated material handling and sorting equipment in a large, clean distribution center. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on conveyors, sorters, cranes, robotics, and related electrical and mechanical systems, ensuring reliable operation and minimal downtime. The position requires strong multi-craft skills, including PLC work, mechanical repair, and electronic troubleshooting, with the opportunity to grow within a structured technician team.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on automated sorting machines, conveyors, cranes, and related equipment, following established PM programs.
- Use TMI Systems software to document maintenance activities, update equipment status, and track work orders and PM completion.
- Troubleshoot and repair Allen Bradley PLC-controlled systems, including both older and newer platforms, to restore equipment to proper operation.
- Diagnose and resolve issues with high-speed automated sorting machines, ensuring accurate and efficient package handling.
- Maintain and repair variable frequency drives (VFDs), photo eyes, sensors, and other electronic control components used in the material handling system.
- Support robotic equipment operations by identifying faults, performing adjustments, and coordinating repairs to maintain system reliability.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair gantry cranes and other lifting equipment used throughout the facility.
- Perform mechanical maintenance and repair on conveyors, sorters, and associated equipment spanning approximately 30 miles of conveyor, multiple sorters, and cranes.
- Service and maintain maintenance forklifts and electric pallet jacks to ensure safe and dependable operation.
- Work on hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including troubleshooting leaks, pressure issues, and component failures.
- Maintain and repair three-phase motors up to 480 volts, including motor replacement, wiring, and testing.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Assist with installations, modifications, and upgrades of new and existing equipment and systems within the distribution center.
- Perform electronic troubleshooting on control panels, wiring, sensors, and other electrical components to ensure proper functionality.
- Collaborate with other technicians and operations staff to communicate issues, share solutions, and coordinate maintenance activities.
- Contribute to a culture of quality and reliability by following safety procedures, adhering to maintenance standards, and recommending improvements.
- Work effectively in a team environment, participating in group problem-solving and offering ideas to enhance system performance and reliability.

Work Environment
Overtime is minimal and generally voluntary, with occasional opportunities as needed. You will work in a large distribution center featuring a multi-story conveyor system that runs approximately 30 miles, multiple sorters, gantry cranes, robotic equipment, and a variety of material handling devices. The facility is described as large and clean, with a culture focused on quality and reliability. You will be part of a team of around 22 multi-craft technicians at various levels, working in groups, communicating regularly, and collaborating on solutions.
The work involves hands-on maintenance in an industrial setting, including exposure to automated machinery, three-phase power, hydraulics, and pneumatics, with appropriate safety practices and attire required for a distribution and maintenance environment.

Pay and Benefits
