Position Summary

This position is responsible for the following:
Records Office admission process, release of inmates, service of detainers and inmates housed out of state to include Concurrent-Out-Of-State (CCOS), Interstate Corrections Compact (ICC) and Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA). This includes coordinating and effectively processing all admissions, including violators, to the Dodge Correctional Institution, (DCI), the reception center for nearly all male inmates in the Department of Corrections, (DOC) and inmates housed out of state to include CCOS, ICC and IGA.

This position has responsibility for meeting all legal requirements regarding inmate admission records, and requires an extensive working knowledge of the Statutes, Administrative Code, and changes, as well as court decisions and their proper implication concerning admissions and releases, incarceration, and sentencing computations to ensure the lawful commitment and release of inmates.

Responsibilities include the review and interpretation of court produced and other legal documents; computation of complex sentence structures; interpretation of computations and procedures; interviewing inmates; representing the institution in legal proceedings and to outside agencies; coordinating temporary custody, and custodial return of escapees.

Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule and range 02-12 starting pay of $24.12/hour. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A probationary period is required.

Job Details

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

This position has the ability to work remotely one day per week, upon successful completion of the probationary period.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have experience in all of the following:

  • Performing mathematical calculations for specific work-related programs (e.g., budget preparation, accounting, offender sentence computations, etc.)
  • Maintaining records within an office setting
  • Interpreting and applying policies, procedures, rules, regulations, etc.

In addition to the above, well-qualified applicants will have experience:

  • Working with legal documents such as warrants, judgements of conviction, etc.
  • Corresponding with external stakeholders (i.e. law enforcement, legal aide societies, attorneys, etc.)
