Position Summary

This position is responsible for the security, treatment and general living conditions of all persons in our care assigned to the unit. The IUS is an administrator responsible for all activities within the unit, including the coordination of all disciplines to address and monitor persons in our care activities and well-being, supervision and direction of assigned unit staff, facilitation and evaluation of unit-based work assignments, monitoring, maintaining, and managing the daily unit-based services provided to persons in our care.

The IUS is tasked with the development, implementation and monitoring of overall institution goals and policies as part of the institution management team.

Salary Information

The starting pay is between $102,544 and $118,809 per year, plus excellent benefits. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. The pay schedule/range is 81-34. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Job Details

Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application. The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency to employment.

Qualifications
  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating a program (security, treatment, clinical, social services, structured activities, etc.)
  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating standards, policies, and procedures
  • Performing supervision or lead worker related activities (assigning, directing, and/evaluating work of staff; disciplinary matters, hiring, etc.)
In addition to the above, well-qualified applicants will have experience
  • Managing and supervising the operating procedures of a work unit (Coordinating and organizing teams, allocating resources, planning and defining strategies and goals, etc.)
  • Working in a secured setting/facility
  • Participating in multi-disciplinary teams or approaches in the development, implementation and review of programs
