Job Summary

This is a paid work‑study or student employment position that provides students with leadership, professional, and soft skills development and offers an hourly rate of $14.00. Tutors report to the Manager of the Learning Commons.

Application Eligibility

Eligible applicants must be active students enrolled in at least six credits, not scheduled for work‑study during class times, and must have a faculty recommendation. They should have earned a grade of B or higher in the subject area in which they wish to tutor.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Assist students in the Academic Resource Center (ARC) in a given subject area, providing 1–10 hours per week in one‑on‑one and small‑group settings.
  • Coordinate with academic areas and instructors to help students meet learning competencies.
  • Document student progress and session data for grant purposes; market the ARC to classes and the college community.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Active student status with at least six credits.
  • Faculty recommendation and a B or higher in the tutor’s chosen subject area.
  • Strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Warm, professional, and helpful interpersonal style.
  • Familiarity with Canvas, Starfish, and Zoom.
