Apogee Architectural Metals Position Summary

The Training Specialist’s primary focus is onboarding, skill verification and site training execution for mentors, leads and emerging leaders. Other secondary responsibilities as capacity allows include translation coordination, systems upkeep, apprenticeship and CI support within Architectural Metals Wisconsin locations. This role will reinforce training programs to facilitate team member growth and retention, and the delivery of quality products for the achievement of company objectives.

This individual will work in strong partnership with managers and supervisors at Metals locations and partner with Manager of Learning & Development to prioritize and oversee effective, consistent quality training across Metals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Day-to-day priorities are set by the Manager of Learning & Development.
  • Complete needs assessments for training and staff development to enhance the effectiveness of associate development in achieving the goals and objectives at Architectural Metals.
  • Oversee the Architectural Metals training function in Wisconsin.
  • Prioritize requests.
  • Ensure that new associate onboarding is kept current and delivered in an effective and professional manner.
  • Ensure annual or ongoing training needs are satisfied.
  • Work with HR to coordinate successful onboarding training schedules and content.
  • Maintain training calendar and post to Teams channels as applicable.
  • Oversee the New Hire Learning Lab Training program to include management of content.
  • Manage the success of the mentor program and train-the-trainer programs.
  • Deploy, monitor, and maintain SharePoint, Teams and Egnyte to ensure associate training materials are up-to-date and current.
  • Responsible for all new hires for a 1-year progression for on-the-job training in department(s) assigned.
  • This may include but not limited to hands-on learning and content creation as needed.
  • Develop strong relationships with all departments to develop course materials and receive feedback.
  • Partner with L&D Manager on external training programs/instructors as needed and work closely with outside vendors to deliver skill development workshops to elevate the abilities of team members.
  • Coordinate the creation, presentation, and evaluation of training material.
  • Support Production and Internal Apprenticeship Programs across Metals with directive from L&D Manager on structure of meetings and contracts.
  • Formulate teaching outline and determine instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings, and workshops.
  • Select or develop teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, and reference works.
  • Ensure they are kept accurate and current.
  • Support Spanish interpretation (video, in-person or phone) and translation (videos/documentation) across Architectural Metals departments as needed for reviews, meetings, etc.
  • Standardize translation processes and translation guides for Metals.
  • Assist Continuous Improvement in updating and maintaining work instructions for job processes in operations that support onboarding programs.
  • Help to organize resources on platforms where this information is stored and accessed.
  • Research and manage interpretation resources for orientation and onboarding across Metals.
  • Recommend, purchase and train on tools that will be valuable for classroom and on-the-job training.
  • Maintain training records such as role-specific training checklists, competency verifications, training matrices, surveys, and delivery of training workshops and attendees.
