Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, has overall responsibility for the manufacturing processes, workflow planning, troubleshooting, and sustainment of assigned departmental objectives. Individuals work shall be in accordance with the established quality standards. He/she is the technical support contact for Design Engineering and Sales and is responsible for maximizing efficiencies and customer satisfaction. Ensures projects are effectively executed to budgeted cost and time schedules.
Essential Job Functions Carries out in-depth analysis of plans, functional specifications, and contracts to determine and advise on overall project requirements; involved in all routine aspects of project including estimating, design for manufacturability, process planning, material and equipment procurement, and progress tracking.
Provides input, reviews, and may prepare shop drawings, based on project plans and specifications, for completeness, showing location of devices, equipment, wiring, etc.
Prepares and/or reviews requirements and documentation pertaining to tooling, equipment, routings, assemblies, and related processes.
Assists production staff with issuing work based on needs of production schedule, input from team leaders, and customer priorities.
Manages the execution of sales and engineering changes throughout build processes to ensure full compliance to vehicle specifications;
Coordinates and communicates project schedules and change proposals;
Plans for and resolves unexpected delays, production issues or schedule recovery options.
Recommends methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocating workstations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.
Acts as a technical resource to Sales, Engineering, and Customer Service;
Provides feedback in design for manufacturability, time studies, project mapping and scope.
Review all production order documentation for accuracy, including bill of materials and routings within company’s information system.
Reasonable knowledge of engineering principles and practices related to manufacturing systems
Solid mechanical and/or electrical aptitude (e.g., deals with a variety of hand and power tools, as well as large equipment, schematics)
Must be a self-starter and work well without supervision
Solid organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, or minimum 2-4 years’ related experience.
Experience working in heavy manufacturing of low volume high mix is highly desirable
