Job DescriptionThis role is critical in transforming sales specifications into production-ready designs that meet rigorous safety and performance standards. You will be a key link between engineering and the factory floor, ensuring every custom build is optimized for Lean Manufacturing and structural integrity. Develop complex sheet metal designs, weldments, and assembly drawings for custom vehicle bodies. Create comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical documentation to support high-volume product orders.
Utilize Solid Works and AutoCAD to generate precise 3D models and 2D production layouts. Ensure all mechanical designs comply with NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) guidelines and industry safety standards. Collaborate with sales teams and customers during pre-construction meetings to interpret technical requirements. Troubleshoot manufacturing and fabrication issues on the shop floor to maintain production schedules. Evaluate and incorporate emerging technologies and materials into next-generation vehicle architectures.
Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field. 3+ years of experience in sheet metal design, fabrication, or heavy equipment manufacturing. Proficiency in Solid Works and AutoCAD is required. Experience with Solid Works Enterprise PDM for version control and data management. Familiarity with NFPA standards and specialized vehicle safety regulations. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to interpret 2D sales drawings and product configurators.
