We are currently seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist who will support environmental and occupational safety compliance across all Kolbe & Kolbe Millwork facilities. This role focuses primarily on regulatory compliance, inspections and recordkeeping, but will also include training support and continuous improvement of environmental, health and safety programs.
Essential Job Functions:- Ensure compliance with Wisconsin DNR air pollution regulations and Part 70 permit requirements, including monitoring, recordkeeping, equipment compliance, and annual reporting.
- Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste in compliance with DNR and EPA RCRA requirements, including waste profiling, storage, disposal coordination, recordkeeping, and annual reporting.
- Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS), chemical inventories, and labeling systems in compliance with OSHA Hazard Communication standards.
- Oversee recycling and solid waste handling and evaluate waste reduction and recycling opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with DATCP and DNR regulations related to fuel dispensing systems and underground storage tanks, including testing, inspections, recordkeeping, and permit renewals.
- Maintain Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), conduct inspections, and maintain required documentation.
- Complete annual Tier II reporting to Wisconsin Emergency Management.
- Ensure compliance with DOT hazardous materials shipping requirements, including Limited Quantity shipments.
- Monitor environmental regulations and assist with implementation of regulatory changes.
- Support OSHA compliance and safety programs, including PPE, Lockout/Tagout, Machine Guarding, Hearing Conservation, Hazard Communication, Bloodborne Pathogens, Confined Space Awareness, and Emergency Action Plans.
- Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and job site walkthroughs; document findings and track corrective actions to closure.
- Assist with incident, injury, and near-miss investigations and support OSHA recordkeeping and workers’ compensation documentation.
- Participate in Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), hazard assessments, ergonomic evaluations, and PPE assessments.
- Assist with safety training for employees including orientations, refresher training, and toolbox talks.
- Support emergency preparedness, drills, and response activities; serve as an Emergency Medical Responder as needed.
- Support contractor safety oversight, visitor safety compliance, and safety committee activities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team-based environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Emergency Medical Responder certification or willingness to obtain
Bachelor of Science degree in environmental, safety, or related discipline, with ongoing professional development.
Experience:Minimum of one year of environmental or safety experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
