The Accountant is responsible for analyzing, recording, reconciling, validating, and maintaining financial information for North Central Health Care to support accurate financial reporting and organizational decision-making. This role participates in month-end and year-end close activities, financial reconciliations, grant reporting, audit preparation, and internal control processes. The Accountant also serves as a resource to departments throughout the organization by assisting with financial problem-solving, interpreting financial data, and supporting compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
The position works collaboratively with accounting staff, Patient Financial Services, operational departments, and leadership to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting while supporting the mission and operational goals of the organization
Compensation and Benefits- The starting pay range for this role is $62,067 - $67,600, based on education and experience.
- This is a full-time, in-person position. This position usually works 8:00am – 4:30pm on weekdays.

It contains elements of both a 401(k) or defined contribution plan and a defined benefit plan. Participating staff contribute 7.2% and NCHC will match this at 100% each pay period!
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
- More than 1 year of accounting or finance experience
- Experience with general ledger functions, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close processes
- Experience utilizing accounting systems and financial reporting tools
- More than 1 year in healthcare accounting
- Experience with grant reporting and audit preparation
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, spreadsheets, and financial analysis tools
- Experience working with healthcare financial software systems such as MIP, Cerner, Net Health, Point Click Care , Matrix, Tier, UKG, or similar systems

What an Accountant does at NCHC- Analyze, reconcile, and maintain general ledger accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Participate in month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
- Prepare and maintain bank reconciliations and other balance sheet reconciliations.
- Interpret fiscal and accounting records to support accurate financial statements, reports, and statistical analysis.
- Assist with annual audit preparation by analyzing financial data, preparing supporting documentation, and recording adjustments as needed.
- Record and reconcile financial information from multiple organizational systems and departments.
- Prepare and maintain grant reporting and supporting financial documentation.
- Manage accounting functions related to fixed assets, depreciation, construction-in-progress, and write-offs.
- Assist with maintaining and improving accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Collaborate with departments throughout the organization to correct financial errors and improve reporting accuracy.
- Serve as a resource to accounting staff and operational departments regarding accounting procedures and financial processes.
- Assist with resident trust accounting, fund transfers, and related reconciliations as assigned.
- Support compliance with federal, state, organizational, and audit requirements.
- Assist with preparation of required financial filings, reports, and documentation.
- Serve as backup support for accounting functions including accounts payable, payroll, cashiering, and other accounting operations as needed.
