Supply Chain Buyer / Purchasing Specialist

Location: Wausau, WI

About the Role

Wausau Homes Inc. is seeking a motivated Supply Chain Buyer / Purchasing Specialist to support procurement activities, supplier relations, inventory management, and production planning. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates looking to enter the fields of supply chain, purchasing, or operations with hands‑on experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate and manage purchase orders using ERP/MRP systems to support production and inventory demands.
  • Track order acknowledgments, delivery dates, and resolve quality or pricing discrepancies.
  • Evaluate suppliers, support negotiations, and maintain accurate supplier records.
  • Monitor inventory levels, lead times, and stock availability to ensure material flow.
  • Assist with forecasting, reporting, and identifying cost‑reduction opportunities.
  • Collaborate with production, scheduling, warehouse, and operations teams to meet internal customer needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pursuing or holding an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or related field.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Proficiency in Excel and data analytics.
  • Strong communication with effective conflict management skills.
