Job Overview
Apogee Architectural Metals – Machine Operator I. Sets up and operates production machines in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Uses computer‑controlled equipment to select, position, and secure automatic or semi‑automatic machines. Controls and adjusts machine settings to complete simple tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion.
Key Responsibilities- Basic operation of simple machinery and equipment, such as presses, lathes, or cutters.
- Follow standardized procedures for setting up and operating machines.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and lubricating machines.
- Familiarity with reading simple work orders or production instructions.
- Produce and ensure product meets or exceeds established product specifications.
- Maintain attention to detail to ensure machine operation is accurate and products meet basic quality standards.
- Basic problem‑solving ability to identify and report machine malfunctions.
- Cross‑train and support all Operator I roles.
Skills and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to use and accurately read measuring devices (tape measure).
- Ability to use hand tools (hammer, wrench, level, etc.).
- Ability to follow blueprints.
- Ability to read and interpret Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Basic computer proficiency (data entry).

Work EnvironmentThe position is based in a manufacturing facility, which may involve exposure to loud noises, varying temperatures, and dust from production processes. Employees will frequently work near or with machinery with moving parts, following strict safety protocols. The facility operates on shift schedules with potential for overtime, including weekends, based on production needs. This environment emphasizes team collaboration and adherence to safety regulations to ensure the well‑being of all employees.
