Job DescriptionThe Transfer Center Nurse understands and supports the philosophy and policies and procedures of Aspirus Health. Works collaboratively to produce, nurture and sustain a professional practice and healthy work environment that affords and enhances patient care effectiveness and efficiency through leadership to multidisciplinary teams, effective physician relationships and a shared vision and dedication to the future of Aspirus Health. This person has accountability for the day-to-day functions for the Aspirus Admission and Transfer Center regarding patient placement across the Aspirus Health System.
The Transfer Center nurse will function out of the Aspirus Admission and Transfer Center providing critical and timely assessments and successfully guiding referring facilities to the appropriate physician. The nurse must be able to adjust through a rapidly changing environment. The nurse will manage multiple phone lines and responsibilities including transfer center logistics for patients being transferred within and out of the Aspirus system.
This role will play a significant part in ensuring adequate acceptance of patients into our health system, and compliance with EMTALA regulations.
- Knowledge of patient care standards and practices is normally acquired through completion of a nursing program. Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
- Maintains education and specialty certification requirements specific to the department scope of service.
- Possesses an active Wisconsin RN nursing license, required.
- Maintains specialty certification as per department scope of service, required.
- Current BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire, required.
- Three years of experience in an acute care nursing setting, required.
