Travel Nurse RN - PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Job Summary

Cardiac Telemetry/Step Down Registered Nurse in Wausau, Wisconsin. This position involves delivering specialized cardiac care in a fast‑paced, high patient turnover environment on a 44‑bed intermediate cardiac step‑down unit. The RN will provide post‑operative care for cardiac procedures, arrhythmia management, heart failure treatment, and other complex cardiac conditions. The role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic, high‑acuity setting with diverse patient populations.

Location:

Wausau, WI

Shift: 12‑hour days, 07:00 AM – 07:30 PM

Guaranteed Hours Per Week: 36 hours

Schedule:

Days

• WI RN License
• BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association or ARC)
• At least 1 year of recent strong cardiac experience (Cardiac Step Down Unit, Intermediate Cardiac, or Cardiac Intensive Care)
• 2 years of IMC (Intermediate Medical/Surgical Care) or Progressive Care Unit or Telemetry experience
• Current experience with Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitro drips
• Minimum of one completed travel assignment
• At least 1‑year recent EPIC charting experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

Responsibilities include float to inpatient units as needed, working every other weekend and holiday, and adherence to flu and COVID vaccination policies. The unit manages various cardiac conditions, including post‑op CABG/Valve, thoracotomy, Vascular, Arrhythmia, CHF, post‑procedure cath, pacer, defib, ablations, acute chest pain/infarction, and medical/surgical overflow such as detox, DKA, COPD exacerbations, respiratory failure, and femoral pop bypass. Candidates should be resilient, capable of managing change independently, and able to complete tasks timely.
